According to studies, a typical Filipino household spends P36 per head everyday for three square meals—cereals take mot of the cost at P10.41, meat and poultry accounts for P7.85, fish at P5.63, vegetables at P2.80. There was also a survey done in 2003 that the consumption of vegetables, corn and cereal products, roots and tubers, and fruits has been declining from 1978 to 2003. However, consumption of meat and meat products, poultry, eggs, milk, fats and oils, and sugars has been increasing.
